Book Synopsis - Murder On Board
2,899 souls sail away in a modern cruise liner for 50 days but only 2,827 returned. Why?
We
meet Luke and his wife Margaret as they rise on the morning of their cruise, in
a hotel in Dublin, Ireland. They have to make their way to Southampton, England
to join a ship that departs for a 50-day cruise before it returns to
Southampton.
Luke has just retired and is approaching his
final years on this earth with a new determination to stand up for himself and to
stop being the doormat he’s been to date. To this end, he has brought some
poison onboard so that he can respond to any misbehaviour and abuse from other
passengers, similar to that which he had suffered on earlier cruises and was
powerless to react to.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t have long to wait. A
run-in with an entertainments officer leads to a man overboard and before long
he feels the ballroom dance instructors are being unsupportive to his efforts. He
doesn’t handle stress very well and learning two new skills simultaneously
takes him to breaking point. A clash with bridge class members provokes his
first use of the poison. Unfortunately, the class as a whole don’t seem to learn
from his action and he is forced to escalate his killings with another incident
which does capture attention and leads to 15 deaths and 19 hospitalised. Now he
has to be careful.

A crime novel that starts in Dublin, Ireland but with tension building shifts to the Canary Islands, off the African coast. Matt had an old friend he’d known since he was a kid. When Declan came offering Matt a business opportunity how could he refuse? Indeed it all could have gone so well if the fire hadn’t happened and the stock been destroyed. Only then did Matt find out about the other investors and the lengths they would go to to get their money back. Matt had to get out of the country and fast so he took a holiday in the far away Canary Islands gambling that the criminal gang wouldn’t follow for such a small debt.
How wrong could he be?
